To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is a Young Adult contemporary book,

The protagonist is Lara Jean Covey, who has two sisters, Margot and Kitty, and the trio is known as the Song sisters. Lara Jean writes love letters to all the boys she has loved, in order to get rid of her feelings for each of them. Until one day, the hatbox where she hid her letters went missing and her love letters sent to their own recipient.

What can I say about this book? I loved it!

Do you know what it’s like to like someone so much you can’t stand it and know that they’ll never feel the same way?

I loved the family dynamics, as I’m the middle child too and I know what it feels to have an older sister and a younger brother. I perfectly know how the protagonist feels, her struggle to be as good as her sister, when the latter went to college.

The drama is funny and I found myself smiling so many times.

It was so easy for me to relate to Lara Jean: the sibling bond, our role as middle children, being a foreigner in the country we have always lived in (we’re both Asians, but I’m Chinese), the teenage years, as we are both almost 17 years old. The only thing we don’t have in common are the love letters, I’ve never loved anyone and I’m not the kind of person to write down my own feelings..

I delete the picture of him from my phone; I delete his number. I think that if I just delete him enough, it will be like none of it ever happened and my heart won’t hurt so badly.

Peter K. was another character I loved. Together with Lara Jean, they’re hilarious!

The writing style was refreshing, not whimsical or with long periods, but simple and linear. The book wasn’t slow-paced, but it flowed naturally. I totally recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
